Presented by Melissa Doecke and Mark Isaacs
French and Australian music for flute and piano from their debut album "Ulpirra Sonatines"
Flautist Melissa Doecke and pianist-composer Mark Isaacs hatched their collaboration over seven years, coming together initially around original compositions of Mark’s which Melissa commissioned, and branching out into exploring French and other Australian repertoire, and their own improvisations and arrangements of popular songs.
Their first performance was at the 2009 Australian Flute Festival and since then they have recorded a recital for ABC Classic FM, made their debut CD "Ulpirra Sonatines" and given concerts at Elder Hall, Adelaide and Melbourne Recital Centre.
Their focus is firmly on music which is both touchingly lyrical and engaging and exciting. Both are performers who love audiences and the joy of pure musical engagement. Performances last one hour and are suited to any space with a performance-standard piano.
