The company is passionate about exploring our collective humanity via its most primal and intrinsically expressive media - the voice. Over the past six years, Artistic Director Alicia Cush, Creative Producer Bethan Ellsmore & Designer Penny Challen have developed a reputation for their unique ability to present classical vocal techniques in innovative contemporary contexts.

Creating The Owl and the Pussycat and works for the cabaret group Babushka, operatic ensemble Belladiva, and cabaret artist Bethan Ellsmore, Little Match Productions has a focus on creating roles, collaborations and opportunities for female artists and arts professionals. Their works fuse opera, classical, cabaret and pop in theatrical musical experiences that combine arresting and original musical arrangements, vocal acrobatics and compelling storytelling.

Unique Selling Point

Easily marketed as 'Ladies' night out' and a genuine comedy cabaret show. Light, comedic entertainment with world-class vocals and musical arrangements. Wide array of musical styles from legitimate opera and music theatre torch song to unique arrangements of Top 40 songs. While the initial attraction of this show is comedy and a strong theme, the lasting impression Babushka audiences leave with is the originality and quality of the musical arrangements/vocal harmonies. This appeal is what builds Babushka's fan base and lures return audiences. The audience demographic is broad from cabaret enthusiast, music theatre crowd to comedy and live music lovers.

Marketing Materials

The Producer will be providing a new marketing pack format from 2017 for all productions. This will include collateral for multi-channel use and represents a full marketing strategy. This includes full media kit, social media materials, print templates, gifs, MRECs, video content, images and public relations materials. There will be customisable content, content creation assistance for presenters and a suggested schedule for implementation. All information to be accessed via Dropbox folder.

Community Engagement

Community engagement opportunities associated with this touring work will involve three different workshops, directed at members of our target audience/demographic (choral singers, musical societies, young singers). These workshops will focus on improving the vocal skills and vocal music appreciation of locals, in a format and with experienced professionals, not normally accessible. It is hoped that these activities will build a stronger relationship between artist and audience and encourage the audience to become more invested with the artists and work.

WORKSHOP #1 Cabaret Workshop: Life is A Cabaret - This 3-hour workshop is designed to help singers discover their on-stage cabaret persona and interpret repertoire in a fresh way through exploration of story-telling, character, dialogue/links, set lists, songwriting/arranging.

WORKSHOP #2 Vocal Masterclass: The Art of Auditioning - This 2-hour workshop/masterclass will help demystify what can be a daunting process – the audition; professional and amateur theatre productions, vocal examinations, performances and entry into tertiary institutions.

WORKSHOP #3 Hitting the High Notes - Introduction to basic singing technique for the amateur singer .This 2-hour workshop explores the most mysterious instrument of all; the voice. Learn the fundamental elements of vocal technique through group exercises in an informative and practical, but relaxed group environment.
