Safe things are boring. Danger is fun.
Circa’s Danger Club is an immersive community enrichment project built around the idea of Danger. Circa started with the premise that they could continue to offer standard 1hr workshops that give participants the taste of circus and create an engagement project that really means something and that truly is of benefit to the participants and their community.
Danger Club is an ambitious project that is uniquely tailorable and scalable. It can be done on a large or small scale or anywhere in between. It can build over return seasons.
Circa’s Danger Leaders host a series of workshops exploring what does danger mean to you? They teach skills, share experiences and engage creatively with the participants about the theme of danger. It’s not just about the skills, it can be about the danger of putting yourself out there in a performance or of being a teenager.
The performances can be held in a large range of venues that might include a disused railway tunnel, a speigeltent, a museum or a school. In Port Pirie the performance took audience members through the back stage areas of the Northern Festival Centre.
